Where to stay for Canton Fair: Pazhou, a metro corridor or Guangzhou South?

Do not choose a Canton Fair hotel from the number of kilometres in a listing. For repeated exhibition days, first compare Pazhou and hotels with a workable metro link to your hall. Staying near Guangzhou South Railway Station may serve an arrival or departure day, but may not serve every exhibition morning. Put your first stand, evening meetings and final destination on one sheet before booking.

Trip planning essentials
  • “Near the fair” is not the same as near your first booked stand; consult the current hall map.
  • Pazhou can prioritise repeated venue access, while a metro corridor may balance evening appointments and accommodation options.
  • A Guangzhou South base is valuable chiefly when rail access matters to the whole itinerary, not merely because it is a major station.
  • Groups with supplier stops can request a vehicle, but hotel shuttles and private pickup must never be assumed without confirmation.

Choose a base from your first non-movable appointment each day

The 140th Canton Fair is held at No. 382 Yuejiang Zhong Road, Haizhu District, but the complex is not a single doorstep. Find the hall of your first accepted meeting on the current map for the correct phase. Compare each candidate hotel’s full address and usable entrance with that hall, not just the straight-line distance shown on a booking card. Add your final stand, evening dinner or supplier appointment. These places describe the day you actually need to travel.

A Pazhou-area hotel may be a sensible candidate for a buyer whose mornings and afternoons are mostly at the exhibition, but its value still depends on the pedestrian route, room terms and actual hall. A hotel with a practical metro connection may suit somebody who also has meetings elsewhere in Guangzhou. A property beside Guangzhou South should not automatically become the base for every night merely because your train uses the station on the first or last day.

Four criteria for a fair accommodation base
  1. Stand

Where is the first fixed meeting each day?

  2. Evening

Which other district holds later appointments?

  3. Departure

When is rail, airport or cross-border travel needed?

  4. Room terms

How do changeover, checkout and baggage work?

Editorial comparison framework, not a hotel price or service promise.

Three hotel bases solve three different travel problems

A Guangzhou government guide for the spring 139th fair identifies Line 8 Pazhou and Xingangdong, and Line 11 Pazhou, as basic stations for reaching the complex. We use those names only as geographic starting points; its spring extra trains, last departures and special ticket arrangements do not establish the October 140th-session timetable. Check current metro operations and the hotel’s actual door before assuming that a route is easy with luggage, transfers or a late return.

Check the changeover gap, checkout and luggage before paying

There are two changeover intervals in the 140th autumn session: 20–22 and 28–30 October. If a reservation spans one, decide whether you already have accepted supplier meetings or another city visit. Ask whether the room date can be changed, and what the hotel will do with luggage or samples. Remaining in Guangzhou purely because the next phase is approaching may not fit your buying plan; switching properties can also consume time and create another bag handoff.

If you check out before the final exhibition meeting, obtain the hotel’s actual storage terms and collection instruction. The existing last-day luggage guide deals with that day’s sequence. This article addresses the earlier choice of where to base the stay. Treat room prices, shuttle offers, check-in times and cancellation rules as property-specific live information, not claims that a general fair guide can guarantee.

Two buyer itineraries should produce different hotel shortlists

Illustrative itinerary A: a buyer will attend three consecutive days of one phase, with first appointments in nearby halls and no off-site evening meetings. Shortlist Pazhou properties and metro-connected alternatives that genuinely work for those halls. Compare the hotel’s actual entrance, room and cancellation terms, not just a marketing phrase about being “steps from the fair”. A short walk to the complex boundary might still leave a substantial final walk to the relevant area.

Illustrative itinerary B: the buyer arrives at Guangzhou South, spends a day at the fair, then visits a confirmed Foshan supplier and returns to Hong Kong. Guangzhou South is important on the arrival leg, but it may not be the best base for the whole trip. Plot the station, fair hall, actual supplier address and final departure in sequence. Then compare candidate hotels on repeated daily travel, evening meetings, room terms and baggage custody. The correct answer depends on the accepted itinerary and live options, not a fixed ranking of districts.

Give the four criteria weights that reflect your trip: for instance, a traveller with a tightly scheduled morning meeting may give venue access more weight than someone with an early next-day train. These examples are decision frameworks, not measured travel times, price claims or endorsements of particular hotels. If hotel staff offer a fair shuttle, ask them to confirm the exact dates, boarding location and destination in writing before that offer affects the shortlist.

Our car service: ask for the specific legs that a hotel choice creates

If your hotel has a workable metro connection and you travel light, use the daily venue-transfer guide to decide each journey; a car is not automatic. When colleagues carry samples or the day joins the exhibition to two confirmed supplier addresses, compare our day-hire option with a single exhibition transfer. In the enquiry form, send the exact hotel entrance, hall area, stops, people and bags. We will assess available vehicles and respond with the journey scope in writing.

This site provides an independent commercial transport service; the article does not imply an official Canton Fair or hotel shuttle partnership. Waiting, parking, changed stops and cancellation terms need to be agreed for the individual quote. Nor can a vehicle promise hall-door access or a fixed number of minutes to your stand.

Frequently asked questions

Is any hotel described as “near Pazhou” a good choice?
No. Verify the real hotel entrance, your target hall and the full walking or transfer route, especially for the first meeting.
Should I stay by Guangzhou South for the whole fair?
Only if the whole itinerary supports that base. When rail is relevant just on arrival and departure, compare the daily exhibition travel from other candidate areas.
Does a fair hotel automatically provide a shuttle?
No. Ask that hotel directly for dates, route, boarding point and any charge, and obtain its confirmation.

Once the hotel is chosen, quote only the car legs you need

Send the actual hotel door, target fair area and accepted off-site appointments to compare single transfers with day hire.

  • Hotel name, full address and usable entrance
  • Fair dates and first hall area
  • People, suitcases and sample volume
  • Extra accepted meeting addresses and return plan
